Cllr Darren Cowell

Darren has been involved in community issues for many years. He served as a councillor for four years between 2011 and 2015 before being re-elected in 2019.
He is currently Deputy Leader of Torbay Council and Cabinet Member for Finance.
Darren says, "The past four years have been extremely challenging, not least having to respond as a local council to the Covid pandemic. I was delighted at the way communities, volunteers, local organisations and the council pulled together in the way they did - partnerships that remain strong today."
Darren has a passion to see investment in to sport in Torbay and has been pleased that there has been over £100,000 made available to support clubs and individuals in the past four years.
He is Chair of the Shiphay and Higher Chelston Community Partnership and vice-chair of Torquay Neighbourhood Plan
and sits on Sports Torbay.
He recently stepped down as Chair of Torbay Community Partnerships Company
He is a company director for a manufacturing company in Newton Abbot.
Darren lives with his wife Jackie in Grosvenor Close along with their Chocolate Labrador, Holly, and Charlie and Smiffy, two Chihuahua Pug cross as well as Mitzi the cat!
When time allows he watches Torquay United at Plainmoor and in the Summer months likes to watch cricket at Torquay Recreation Ground.
Cllr Rob Loxton

Rob has been known for his keen interest in sport in Torbay for many years.
As a member and past chair of Sport Torbay he has worked with numerous sports clubs - particularly supporting clubs who have applied for long leases from the Council.
Since being elected Rob has served as Chair of the Torbay Council's Audit Committee as well as the Leader of the Independent Group.
He has supported Shiphay based businesses since 1980 and is passionate about the needs and concerns of the people and environment in the Shiphay area.
Rob says, "It has been a privilege to serve as a councillor here in Shiphay and to have helped so many residents with issues raised. The Shiphay community are so passionate about the place they call home and I feel honoured to be part of this”.
Rob, who lives in Queensway Crescent, has his own accountancy firm and in his spare time visits local sport clubs and can also be found at the Recreation Ground watching rugby and cricket.
