Rob and Darren to stand again
Your Independent councillors for Shiphay
Current ward councillors Darren Cowell and Rob Loxton have announced they will be standing for re-election on May 4th.
They were elected in 2019 and both have played leading roles in the Partnership Administration that runs the council.
Rob who lives in Shiphay said, “It has been a privilege to serve as a councillor here in Shiphay and to have helped so many residents with issues raised. The Shiphay community are so passionate about the place they call home and I feel honoured to be part of this”.
Darren, who also lives in Shiphay, said, “The past four years have been extremely challenging, not least with the pandemic that slowed up so many projects. Despite this, progress has been made and turning Children Services from requiring improvement to good is a significant achievement as well as being nominated this year as a Most Improved Council.”
Voter ID is coming
New rules for voting at a polling station
The government have introduced new rules if you vote at a polling station.
The council elections on 4th May will be the first that those who vote in person will be required to show ID. Accepted ID includes a driving licence, passport, A Blue Badge or Older Person’s Bus Pass.
If you don’t have any of these you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate from Torbay Council.
